How to Travel from Türkiye to Japan for CAR-T Cell Therapy

Going from Türkiye to Japan for CAR-T therapy in leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma: eligibility criteria, process, timeline and what you need to know.

How to Travel from Türkiye to Japan for CAR-T Cell Therapy

CAR-T cell therapy is a groundbreaking cell therapy for relapsed or refractory leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. With access to approved CAR-T products and next-generation programs such as piggyBac (virus-free) and iPSC-derived iCART, Japan is one of the strongest countries in this field.

The process of traveling from Türkiye to Japan for CAR-T:

1. Eligibility: your pathology reports, bone marrow and imaging results are evaluated by the Japanese hematology board. Patients in suitable general condition (ECOG) who have received at least one prior line of therapy are considered.

2. Cell collection & manufacturing: if eligible, your T cells are collected (leukapheresis) during the first trip to Japan; the cells are genetically equipped in the laboratory. This manufacturing process takes a few weeks.

3. Reinfusion: in the second phase, the prepared CAR-T cells are returned to you, followed by a short monitoring period.

4. Follow-up: after returning to Türkiye, your control plan and your connection with Japan are maintained by us.

Foreign patient admission in Japan is exclusively through accredited coordinators. For a free preliminary evaluation, you can upload your reports via our patient panel.
