Why Is a Second Opinion Important in Cancer? Getting a Review from the Japanese Expert Board

Getting a second expert opinion before starting treatment can both prevent unnecessary surgeries and open the door to newer options.

Why Is a Second Opinion Important in Cancer? Getting a Review from the Japanese Expert Board

When cancer is diagnosed, the first treatment plan given is often correct; but it is not always the only option. International studies show that treatment plans change for a significant share of patients who seek a second opinion — sometimes a method with fewer side effects, sometimes an advanced technology that was never considered.

What does a second opinion from Japan offer? Japanese oncology boards use technologies not yet widespread in Türkiye — heavy ion, proton, BNCT, CAR-T, personalized cancer vaccine — in daily practice. The experts reviewing your file not only assess your current plan, but also tell you whether you are a candidate for one of these advanced options.

How does the process work? You upload your reports (pathology, imaging, discharge summaries) to the CyberCellX panel; the documents are translated into Japanese and forwarded to the relevant expert board. You receive a written assessment within about 5 business days. This assessment obliges you to nothing — the decision is entirely yours.

Without interrupting your current treatment, you can learn Japan's opinion by filling in the free preliminary evaluation form.
