T cells collected from the patient are programmed with a cancer-recognizing CAR receptor using the virus-free piggyBac transposon system, expanded in the lab and returned to the patient. The virus-free method simplifies manufacturing and lowers cost.
Approximately 3–5 weeks in Japan including cell collection, manufacturing and infusion.
Cytokine response is monitored in hospital for a few days after infusion; blood counts and response assessment are coordinated remotely after return.
